Cheap Flights
How to get cheap flights

There is no fool-proof formula for getting cheap flights. The travel industry is temperamental prices can change more than once a day, and unfortunately, this means you have to use your instincts more than anything if you want to get the best deals. This becomes even more challenging during the holidays and peak travel seasons. Do not worry, though, because help is at hand. The following tricks may not always get you the cheapest airline tickets, but they will surely help you at least get substantial discounts.

Book your flight early. Forget what they say about how putting off your booking can snag you the cut-rate tickets. As in all things, the early bird always catches the worm. Planning ahead enables you to shop around and compare deals, and then grab the cheap flights while they are there. Remember that the discounted packages often disappear quickly, and they are almost never replaced once they are grabbed. Most travel agencies and airlines operate on˜a first come, first served basis. So if you are planning to travel during peak periods like Christmas and during school holidays, start looking three to five months in advance.

Use a flight-comparison web site. Do your research and find web sites that feature up-to-the-minute rate comparisons so you can zoom in on the cheapest of the cheap flights. If you are a frequent traveler, it might be a wise move to subscribe to specialty travel web sites to get alerts whenever the best deals on the flights you are eyeing crop up. If you would rather not subscribe, though, don't worry many web sites also have a lot of free content.

You can also go directly to an airline's web site to see what discount deals they offer. If you are lucky, you may even get last-minute cheap flights when the airline flogs off unsold seats at discount prices. But do not expect much this usually only happens during off-peak seasons, when the demand for flights is low. You will also probably be able to snag deals like these if you are traveling on an unusual time of the year, or if your destination is not particularly popular.
